Text Box: Well, the 2004-2005 Masonic year has commenced with a slight twist for our Lodge. Although a new Master has been installed into the chair of King Solomon he hasn’t really embraced it. The reason being is that one must actually be in the country to actively take a part in proceedings.
A 4 month assignment in Singapore makes my ability to engage in Lodge activities somewhat a challenge. Although it is a good opportunity the timing couldn’t be worse. Having said this the support I have received from Lodge members has made me extremely proud to be a member of this fraternity.
As I mentioned during the evening of the Installation this event wouldn’t have run so smoothly without the assistance of a number of very supportive brethren. I’m sure when Wor. Bro. David Bennell accepted the offer to stand as Master for Text Box: a second time he didn’t expect this would be for 15 months! David has been an incredible mentor during the time leading up to my Installation and I would really like to thank him sincerely. He has continued this support following my Installation by not only keeping the seat warm but hosting many of the executive meetings at is residence since that time.
If the benefits of the planning committee needed to be substantiated I think my year has proven this. Led by Max Martin this committee has provided me with a solid foundation to start the year and I am eternally grateful for the assistance it has provided in the planning.
I would like to thank the team for accepting their roles. I believe there has been some great work that has been achieved in the last couple of months.
I also mentioned on the Installation evening, this Text Box: year will likely be the calm before the storm. There are two large events approaching on the Lodge calendar. Firstly, the 75th anniversary of consecration of the BP Lodge No 488 and secondly the next Australian Scout Jamboree. Both of these events will require some detailed planning to successfully execute – much of which has already commenced.
The number of Planning Committee panels has again expanded this year. The Projects Panel has been formed to investigate the major or primary charitable activity for the Lodge and be submitted for approval by the members after review by the Planning and General Purposes Committees
More information should be available soon.
In closing I would like to wish brethren and their families the very best for the festive season. I look forward to catching up with you all in 2005
