Text Box: Masonic Background. Peter was initiated into Freemasonry in the BP Lodge in 1952 and progressed through all Chairs to be installed by M.W. Bro. Sir Robert Risson as Worshipful Master for the 1974-75 year of the Lodge.
Following the year of WM he served in the position of Assistant Secretary for 14 years and Secretary for 9 Years. As a result of this service Peter was recognised with conferred Grand Rank in 1989, promoted in 1996 and again in 2005 to PGIW.
In addition, Peter has been a Director of the Waverley Masonic Temple Company and is currently still Chairman of the Committee of Enquiry for the Lodge and Assistant Secretary.
Most Memorable Masonic/Scouting Time. Without a doubt the most memorable and satisfying were the years as Rover Leader at 1st Hartwell particularly as 5 of our BP Lodge members were in the Crew during my tenure. A further 3 are no longer members of our Lodge.
In addition to being installed by the GM who was a member of our BP Lodge at the time, the highlights of my years with the Lodge would be to have Installed Hugh Stevens and Nigel Cavell (former Crew members) as WMs.
Scouting Background: Peter joined Scouting in 1938 and held positions in Text Box: the Cubs, Scouts, Seniors (Venturer) and Rover Sections.
Warrants held during this time were as follows:
Asst Scout Master — 1st Armadale
Scout Master — 1st Armadale
Scout Master, Seniors — 1st Armadale
Rover Scout Leader — 1st Hawksburn
Rover Scout Leader — 1st Hartwell
Asst Area Commissioner — East Suburban Area
Area Commissioner — West Metro Area in WA.
Occupation: For 42 Years Peter was employed with General Motors Holden, including 18 years in Senior Executive positions with the Service Parts Operations. He retired in 1986.
Community Involvement: For the wider community Peter was a Returning Officer for Victorian State Elections in Malvern, Forest Hill and Mitcham.
Other interests and involvement included Vice President, Chairman, National Secretary and Treasurer of the Royal Commonwealth Society, Victorian Branch, Past President of the Glen Waverley Probus Club, membership of the RACV Club for 45 years, member of the Mount Waverley Bowling Club for 16 years and affiliate member of the Waverly RSL.
